About

Welcome to my closet. There are stories in here.

I'm Carlyn. Anthropologist, epidemiologist, mother, stylist. I live in Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley.

I'm curious about people. How we live, what we make, what we choose to wear.

That curiosity has taken me from public health emergency response to vintage racks to pearl farms in French Polynesia. Somewhere along the way, it became the foundation of my creative work.

I love a garment with a past, a pearl with an unusual shape, and an outfit that comes alive when someone moves in it.

Here you'll find science, style, field notes, a little theater, and plenty of pearls.

Two hands holding a single irregular baroque pearl

A pearl is a record of what an animal does with pressure, time, and refusal. The irregular ones tell it best.
